Associate Portfolio Manager

Mission Statement

I pride myself on being an advisor with a wealth of practical knowledge and out-of-the box thinking skills. With twenty years of experience in the investment industry both as an investment advisor and, formerly, a portfolio manager, I have seen the market through its highs and lows. With my team I can provide my clients with insightful, unbiased and sound investment recommendations to help you achieve your objectives.

Investment Philosophy

"It's your money not mine"

"It's your money not mine" is my investment philosophy. I believe that it is important to take the time to listen to all my clients' concerns and get an understanding of their background in order to help make their portfolio grow in the way that gives them peace of mind. I take the time to educate my clients about investment opportunities so they can become more comfortable with all types of investments. For me, education is the key. I always say that investing is about "common sense" and that "the best shopper in the family is the best investor". With the knowledge I communicate to my clients they can be confident that their wealth will grow.

About Me

I studied science and kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, SFU and Waterloo University. I began working as an Investment Advisor in 1987 and joined Canaccord Capital Corporation from BMO Nesbit Burns in 2007, twenty years later. My business experience includes owning small businesses and investing in real estate. I taught budgeting courses at Conestoga College for several years and also enjoyed being a fitness instructor for 10 years. During my time off I enjoy fitness, reading, and spending time outdoors. Also I sing in a Salvation Army choir that regularly travels across North America. I'm happily married and we have a daughter named Emma. Balance is an important virtue, whether it is money, education, or home life. This is why I believe that past experiences are important in present day decisions.

My Team

Peter Frost B.A. - Associate

Peter graduated from Mount Alison University in New Brunswick in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He began his work in the investment industry in corporate finance at Dominion Securities. After six years he joined The Bank of Nova Scotia where for the next twelve years he managed various fixed income and equity portfolios including the Bank's $750 million pension fund. From 1986-1990 Peter was the President and CEO of Scotia Securities, which is the discount brokerage arm of ScotiaBank. Peter then went to BMO Nesbitt Burns Private Client Division, where we met and became partners. Peter and I moved to Canaccord Capital Corporation in February of 2007. In his spare time Peter enjoys golf, curling and squash. When he is up at his cottage he likes to go fly-fishing, sailing and canoeing.
